ROWALID® TIM: Effect coatings for coated fabrics

Pinneberg, September 2023
Many products from the ROWAKRYL®, ROWATHAL®, ROWAFLON®, and ROWANYL® lines are already available in water-based formulations, for example, for applications in tarpaulin fabrics, printed goods, or (foam) synthetic leather. As a further addition, ROWA Lack now also offers high-quality metallic effect coatings from the ROWALID® TIM series in water-based formulations.

The ROWALID® TIM product group, part of ROWA Lack’s extensive product range, is an ideal complement to the standard portfolio when high-quality metallic effects—such as those on PVC-coated fabric—are desired. In most cases, silver-colored effects are desired, but gold tones can also be achieved. To achieve this, the coatings must be formulated using specially selected binders and effect pigments to ensure an excellent result in terms of color, opacity, brilliance, surface texture, and gloss after coating. To enhance the silver or gold effect, base materials tinted gray, yellow, or orange are typically used.

In addition to established, solvent-based products—including SVHC-free options upon request, such as ROWALID® TIM 95221—new water-based coating systems have now been developed. ROWALID® TIM 95371W, for example, is a silver-colored variant based on a standard water-based tarpaulin coating. The new ROWALID® TIM 95400W is also silver in color; it is based on a higher-quality fluoropolymer coating and is therefore suitable for more demanding applications.

Both the solvent-based and water-based ROWALID® TIM effect coating systems can be optimized to deliver a wide variety of properties, depending on customer requirements. In general, all coatings in the ROWALID® TIM product group already offer low susceptibility to soiling and excellent cleanability.
